Why Kittens Need More
Growth requires a different formula.
Kittens need significantly more protein, DHA, and certain minerals than adult cats. They also need moisture from day one — a dehydrated kitten's kidneys are already under stress. The kitten formula is not adult food in a smaller serving. It is a separate formulation.
🧠
DHA for brain wiring
Between weeks 6 and 24, a kitten's brain undergoes rapid structural development. DHA from cold-pressed salmon oil is the primary building block. This is when it matters most.
🫀
Taurine — non-negotiable
Taurine deficiency in kittens causes dilated cardiomyopathy, retinal degeneration, and reproductive failure. Purr-o-Meals provides taurine from whole chicken heart — not added synthetically after processing destroyed it.
💧
Moisture from birth
Mother's milk is 80% water. The transition to solid food should maintain high moisture intake. Dry food at weaning creates an immediate moisture deficit that becomes a lifetime pattern.
How To Serve
Soft. Warm. 3–4 times daily.
⚖️
Step 1
Measure 20–30g
Per meal. Kittens eat 3–4 small meals daily. Very young kittens (6–10 weeks): 15–20g per meal, 4 times.
💧
Step 2
Add 50–75ml warm water
37°C. Add extra water for a softer texture for very young kittens. Texture should be almost paté-like for 6–10 week olds.
⏱️
Step 3
Wait 2–3 minutes
Smaller portions rehydrate quickly. Stir gently — the texture should be uniformly soft and moist throughout.
🥣
Serve
Warm at 37°C
Kittens are highly temperature-sensitive — cold food is often rejected. Warm food matches mother's milk temperature and is almost always accepted.
