Bioavailable protein
Kibble: crude protein % doesn't equal absorbed protein
UNDERSTOOD: native protein structure preserved at 50–75°C

The Maillard reaction at 180°C reduces protein digestibility by 15–30%. Your dog's body can't use what it can't absorb. Crude protein on a label is not the same as bioavailable protein.

Moisture every meal
Kibble: 8–10% moisture. Dogs need 70% from food.
UNDERSTOOD: 68% moisture when served warm and moist

Dry food forces the kidneys to work harder to compensate for missing moisture. Indian dogs in 40°C heat on dry food carry a permanent hydration deficit that compounds over years.

Kibble: extrusion at 180°C destroys prebiotic fibre structure
UNDERSTOOD: oat beta-glucan intact. Feeds the microbiome.

Dogs eating grass are asking for prebiotic fibre - the only source they can find. 70% of their immune system lives in the gut. The fibre that feeds it doesn't survive the kibble extrusion process.

Fat-soluble vitamins from synthetic sources and whole food sources are not bioequivalent. Preformed vitamin A from chicken liver is different from retinyl palmitate added to kibble after extrusion.
