Why we started UNDERSTOOD™
Modern pet food wasn’t designed around pets, It was designed around systems.
Over time, food began to prioritise:
Shelf life - lasting longer on racks than in the body
Convenience - easy to store, easy to ship, easy to standardise
Mass production - made to scale, not to adapt
High-heat processing - efficient, but nutritionally harsh
Synthetic supplementation - added back after real nutrition is lost
None of this makes the food bad.
But it slowly moved food away from how nourishment naturally works.
UNDERSTOOD began with a simple question,
"What if pet food was designed around biology first, and systems came second?"
That question is where everything started.
